your exam

Your exam will be a comprehensive eye evaluation, including a detailed examination of your retina, macula and vitreous. Due to the level of detail, dilation and diagnostic testing the initial visit can last 1-2 hours depending on the type of retina problem. Follow up exams are shorter. You will be meet one of our specially trained ophthalmic technicians who will obtain your history, vision, measure your eye pressure and dilate your eyes.

It takes about 20-30 minutes for your eyes to dilate your eyes enough so that the doctor can do a complete detailed examination of your retina. After a complete dilation you will see our doctor. Many times additional tests are required to complete your retina evaluation, these will be completed in the office on the day of the visit. Our office has advanced diagnostic equipment including spectral domain optical coherence tomography (OCT), fluorescein angiography, fundus photography and ophthalmic ultrasound that are all completed in the comfort of our office.

At the end of your visit your eyes will be dilated, we recommend that you plan accordingly and make plans to have someone drive you home if needed.
